Downloadable content

Ever since Microsoft releases their own gaming network stores such as Xbox Store (formerly both Xbox and Games Windows Live Marketplaces separately), the downloadable content system are expanding throughout the next generations of the gaming consoles, such as PlayStation Network (since PlayStation 3 and Portable), Nintendo eShop (since Nintendo Wii and DS) onwards. Downloadable Content will allow the player purchases the content such as characters, costumes, items, etc. to expand the game's content and gameplay. The downloadable content system in Marvel vs. Capcom series first appear in (Ultimate) Marvel vs Capcom 3.
