Heroes and Heralds Mode Trailer

Heroes and Heralds Mode is a game mode in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It was released for free on December 19, 2011. The player takes sides in the battle to decide the fate of the Earth, either against Galactus in Team Heroes or for Galactus in Team Heralds. Members of Team Heralds gain a new alternate costume in which they are completely covered in silver, similar to the Silver Surfer's acquisition of Galactus's cosmic powers.

Gameplay[]

Cards[]

Players customize their decks with three out of 104 cards, which gives them various special abilities, such as parrying, speed increases, armored assists, etc. The cards represent many characters from both Marvel and Capcom universes. It is both online and offline.

A deck is comprised of one Point Card, marked by a star, and the other two Assist Cards. A card assigned to be the Point Card grants the player its primary effect and the secondary effect for the Assist Cards.

A card can drop from any stage after winning the battle. Certain cards have a higher rate of appearing in specific stages, e.g. Astaroth card in the Demon Village. Uatu the Watcher appears most commonly in the Fate of the Earth stage and is often used by the opponents. Serpent and Captain Commando cards are the only ones that can only be obtained by playing online.

Hit lists[]

Hit lists are the main feature of the offline version. Similar to Bingo cards, several characters appear on a 5x5 grid and have to be defeated to be crossed-out. Completing a row, column, or a diagonal will unlock a bonus stage, where difficult opponents and rare cards are found.

Certain characters have a higher rate of appearing in stages they are associated with. For example, Kattelox Island is described as a pit-stop for robotics lovers. Characters using robotics such as Tron Bonne or Iron Man appear more commonly here. Similarly, characters relating to demons, such as Ghost Rider or Arthur appear more frequently in Demon Village.
