In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, each character in the game has a number of alternate costumes. The costumes are merely aesthetic and serve no purpose in gameplay. The first three costumes, which are simple texture and palette variations, are available in the base game, with the first being available from the start and the other two are unlocked after fighting a specific number of battles in Arcade Mode or Online. The next four are new models that can be purchased as downloadable content. A few characters have another four that were previously exclusive from promotional content of the game.

Since there are no official "Costume Breakdown" blog posts from Marvel and Capcom detailing the sources of these colors as they were in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, any and all origins and references detailed here are merely guesses, and should not be treated as official word.
