A Hyper Combo is a powered-up special attack used by characters in the Marvel vs. Capcom series.
They differ from Super Combos in that they have easier inputs; they only require a single special move motion plus two attack button presses (which is more similar to how EX special moves in later Street Fighter games are performed), as opposed to Super Combos in the Street Fighter series, which require two special move motions plus a single punch or kick button.
Some Hyper Combos, such as Zangief's Ultra Final Atomic Buster, cost three power bars to perform instead of one. From X-Men vs. Street Fighter to Marvel vs. Capcom 2, those instances were rare, but they were made more common in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, where almost every character has a Level 3 Hyper Combo. Starting in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, with the transition to 3D character models, during Level 3 Hyper Combos, the camera would break from its normal fixed position to show a more dynamic, cinematic view of the gameplay, similar to the Ultra Combos in Street Fighter IV.
Hyper Combo Combination Edit
Hyper Combo Combination, also known as Variable Combination (ヴァリアヴルコンビネーション), is the name given to two Hyper Combos performed at the same time in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. When two characters perform a Hyper Combo Combination Finish, the name of their Hyper Combos is combined. The exceptions are Zangief and Mecha Zangief, which use Double Final Atomic Buster when they are the first character in the team.
- As the first and second part of the combinations from Blackheart/Mephisto and Captain America/U.S. Agent are the same, their Hyper Combo Combinations are named "Armageddon Armageddon" and "Star Star", respectively.
- As the Hyper Combo from Ryu, Sakura, and the tanned Sakura have the same name, the name doesn't change in their combinations. Also, as the first half of their Hyper Combos and Dan's are the same, the name of Dan's combination will be the same as Ryu's or Sakura's Hyper Combo when partnered with him. The same happens with the combinations from Mega Man and Roll.
