"I'm Gonna Take You For a Ride" is a viral memetic music composition piece that originated from Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, released in 2000, and achieved so much popularity among players that it was brought back and remixed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, released 11 years later, in 2011.
Original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 version[]
The original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 version of the song was originally used for the background music for the Character Selection screen. While the game's soundtrack had a very "smooth jazz" feel to it, which felt rather out-of-place for a Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game, this one particular track proved to be so popular among fans that it was brought back and remixed for Marvel vs Capcom 3 11 years later. As with all other tracks in the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 soundtrack, the original version of the song has a smooth jazz feel to it.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 remix versions[]
The song returns in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as the background music for the Character Selection screen in Training Mode (Arcade Mode uses a completely different composition based on the Main Menu background music). The song comes in three remixes; the first remix is an electronic remix that is faithful to the original smooth jazz-style composition of the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 version of the song; the second remix has a more electronic dance music-style feel to it; and the third remix has a more hard rock feel to it. In addition, in all gameplay modes, the Game Announcer references the song in one of his quotes by saying, "Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is here! I'm gonna take you on a wild ride!"
