The area has a purple hue with lightning striking at times, and there's a strange, broken up object to the right.

The following is a list of locations in X-Men: Children of the Atom.

List of stages[]

Avalon[]

Avalon is the stage of the game's final boss, Magneto. The station is located in outer space, roughly above the west area of Africa.

The battle starts in the control room, where Magneto greets his opponent. This area is a large chamber with a back windows looking into space and two terminals at each side. A chair with several screens and monitors stands at the top, where Magneto sits during his intro animation before descending to face the player. The CPU Magneto has a special move that when used changes the location of the battle, moving the platform the battle takes place into three other areas of the station. This move has Magneto raise his fists and surround himself with electricity, granting him invincibility frames from start-up to finish.

The first area is below the control room, and appears to be an energy core of sort, a brick-looking domed machine connected with several cables and pipes; and the entire area is bright red. The next area is to the left and is a takeoff port holding a shuttle, possibly the means to leave the station after beating Magneto. Magneto has an exclusive special move in this area that allows him to levitate several large pieces of metal and throw them at the player for high damage.

The final area is located above the space port and looks like a computer room of some kind with green walls covered in glowing square parts and a terminal/monitor of sorts in the center. From here the platform moves back to the control room to its right.

Danger Room[]

Danger Room

Danger Room

Danger Room is the stage of Cyclops and Akuma. The stage has a mostly metallic appearance, with a hard steel floor and back wall. There's an emergency exit door with a control panel on the right side, and a set of windows at the left showing a control room with Professor X supervising the battle from inside.

At times during the battle, obstacles like sharp spikes rising from the ground and a mechanical press coming down from the ceiling can be observed, but these are merely aesthetic elements and have no influence on gameplay. The stage also alters its appearance periodically into 3 different holographic settings:

  • Jungle - The back wall turns into a lush jungle area with large trees and vegetation. Vines can be seen hanging at the top, as well as a broken branch and several tropical animals moving on the background.
  • Ocean - The stage takes the appearance of being underwater, with water reflection effects and a number of sea life swimming at the ground. The background features a number of coral reefs and assorted plants, while high up one can spot a sunken ship.
  • Space - The background becomes a space void with a large nebula and planet visible high up in the air, and a big artificial satellite visible at the left side.

Genosha[]

Genosha

Genosha

Genosha is the stage of Sentinel. This stage takes place in a Sentinel production facility in the fictional country of Genosha, an island off the western coast of Africa.

The battle takes place in a brick floor in front of a large circular open pit from where a yellow glow comes out, a metal rail barrier around it and a set of machines positioned the center. Two pillars and a large arch of machines stand in the foreground, while a large circular window adorns the background wall and more machinery can be seen on the upper parts. The pillars and machines attached to them can be damaged if a character is thrown their way.

As the battle starts a large, red Sentinel raises from the background pit and observes the battle. If Sentinel is defeated in this stage, then some machinery from the top will fall down and the large Sentinel will short circuit and break down. If Sentinel wins, however, the Sentinel will fly upwards and leave the facility.

Ice On The Beach[]

Ice On The Beach

Ice On The Beach

Ice On The Beach is the stage of Iceman. This stage takes place near an island in the South Pacific that has a huge icicle in the ocean, likely created by Iceman himself.

The battle takes place on top of the icicle and in front of a beach crowded with people watching the battle unfold. The beach in the background is lined up with palm trees and there's a white building visible far in the distance. On the left side there's a rocky part that's closer to the foreground with more palm trees and people watching.

After the first round, the icicle breaks off and starts drifting away to the right. It floats into the ocean, passing alongside a group of people in delta sailboats (one of which sails right in front of the icicle) and one person in a jet ski, and finally reaches a white yatch with women on board. Near the end dolphins appear jumping out of the water, and upon victory they take their heads out of the water to celebrate the winner.

Iceman's ending is set in this stage as he creates several ice statues of other characters for the amusement of several girls watching.

Mojo World[]

Mojo World

Mojo World

Mojo World is the stage of Spiral. It is the only stage that has a red rectangle around the location, likely to indicate that it takes place in an alternate universe.

The battle takes place on top of a hexagonal glass floor with metallic-like spiralling pillars around it. The area is set against a yellow sky with bizarre objects floating around: a fishbone-like object with fins to the left, a stone-like hand with elongated fingers (one of which is broken and floating a little ahead) to the right and a large fish with its mouth open in the distance, which is connected to the fishbone object. Each time one of the characters hit the ground it will crack, and doing so a second time will break through it sending the characters into a lower layer. There are a total of 3 lower layers, each accessed after breaking the glass floor of the one above.

The second layer is set closer to the clouds, with a few cliff tops peeking through them. The whole area has a blue-ish hue, and there are floating seashell-shaped objects with flames coming out of them. The third layer stands in front of a large mountain with a staircase spiralling around it. The area has a purple hue with lightning strikes happening at times, and there's a strange, broken up object to the right.

The fourth and final layer stands in front of a light blue sky with yellow clouds and possess a red hue all over. A large stone head in the shape of Mojo being held by a stone hand floats in the background, following the characters as they fight along the stage and blinking periodically.

Moon Night[]

Moon Night

Moon Night

Moon Night is the stage of Psylocke. This stage is located in China.

The battle takes place on top of a metal platform in front of what appears to be a factory of some kind. The platform moves up, then right, follows left and goes back up, showing different areas of the factory including shutter doors, metal walls with the floor number, and rooms with walkways and pipes everywhere. The platform will eventually reach the top of the factory, a large rooftop showing a central walkway, a water tower and several metal structures at the sides, with the whole city and a full moon as the background.

Metal structures appear at the top and in the foreground as the elevator moves around, which can be destroyed if a character is thrown their way, making the structures above to fall down as well. A metal drum located at the right edge of the platform can also be destroyed in the same manner.

Mutant Hunting[]

Mutant Hunting

Mutant Hunting

Mutant Hunting is the stage of Colossus. This stage takes place in the streets of Los Angeles. After the floor has been damaged enough, players must now fight on a boat that's traveling through a city.

The battle takes place in a speedway road in front of a multi-car crash site, with one building to the right and several skyscrapers lining up the background. The floor will crack every time a character is hit against it in battle, and after around 4 to 6 times it will give in and break, sending the players down into the deck of a boat. Upon landing the boat will start moving to the right, traveling in front of the city's harbor.

At first the city in the background is normal, but eventually the boat will pass by a downed Sentinel struck in-between destroyed buildings, with an active Sentinel moving far in the distance and policemen running across the harbor to the left and right. Further ahead blue vans will start appearing driving to the left. Near the end stands a sing for a "T.K. Company".

On The Blackbird[]

On The Blackbird

On The Blackbird

On The Blackbird is the stage of Storm. This stage takes place aboard the X-Men's Blackbird, located in Portugal.

The battle takes place on top of the Blackbird as it stands in an aircraft carrier that's swimming across an ocean. The battleship rocks around as it navigates the waters, with the only things of note in the background being the battleship's big control tower and the clouds in the horizon far away. At times an helicopter can be seen passing by in the background.

When selecting the stage, it will be set randomly at three different times of the day: afternoon (pink skies and hue), sunset (yellow skies and hue) and night (blue skies and hue).

Samurai Shrine[]

Samurai Shrine

Samurai Shrine

Samurai Shrine is the stage of Silver Samurai. This stage is located in Osaka, Japan.

The battle takes place inside a temple in the middle of a forest, with a large, multi-armed statue standing in its center. A big red torii (Japanese arch or "sacred door") stands around the statue, with two small wooden bridges leading into it and a bright lamp post to the left. Two geisha playing shamisens (stringed instrument) stand at each side of the statue, and four ninja stand idle with their arms crossed in the platform the fight takes place. The moon at the right and Mt. Fuji at the left are visible in the upper areas of the stage.

There's a Saisen (wooden box used to gather offerings) in the center of the stage, in front of the statue, and a rock post to its right. Both elements can be destroyed if a character is thrown their way. If the battle extends for a long time, the ninja will disappear and reappear in their place, and then a big fire will break out in the background.

Savage Land[]

Savage Land

Savage Land

Savage Land is the stage of Wolverine. This stage is located in Antarctica.

This stage takes place on top of a moving piece of ground floating in a river of lava in front of a forest. The stage moves slowly to the right, first going through the forest and passing by a ruined domed building in the distance, then entering a denser area of the forest replete with dinosaurs: first a Triceratops is spotted observing the characters fighting, then a group of Pachycephalosaurus fighting with their hard heads. After a second forest area comes a more arid background where several Gallimimus are seen running away in two groups, followed by a large Tyrannosaurus Rex giving chase. The stage then reaches its end in front of a large open area filled with lava, with an active volcano visible far in the distance.

Upon victory, several small feathered dinosaurs (possibly Archaeopteryx) come from above and stand behind the fighters, either flapping their arms or moving their heads rapidly.

Space Port[]

Space Port is the stage of the game's sub-boss, Juggernaut. This stage is located east of Mexico.

The battle takes place in a takeoff platform next to the shuttle set to travel to Magneto's Avalon station. The stage is surrounded by beams, metal structures and pipes covering the entire background, as well as two large metal pillars that can be damaged by throwing a character at their direction. Each time Juggernaut strikes the ground or falls down, debris falls all around the screen.

There are also small metal beams in the foreground of the stage, which Juggernaut can pick up and use as a weapon during the battle. Upon victory a large water tower can be seen falling in the background.

The Deep[]

The Deep

The Deep

The Deep is the stage of Omega Red. This stage is located in the northeast part of Russia.

The battle takes place inside a large underwater elevator in front of a marine platform. There are large windows in the background to the outside, and a brown elevator door at the left side. Right at the beginning of the battle shutters close down the windows, and when they open up the elevator is already going underwater. As the elevators goes down a deep abyss, several cliffs and underwater life of all manner appear swimming in front of the glass window. What appears to be a research station of some kind can also be seen at one point.

If the battle extends long enough, the glass windows will start to crack due to underwater pressure, and after a while a second cracking happens and the lights on the elevator turn off. Once the battle ends, the shutters close again and the elevator is quickly pulled back to surface.
